After Ferrari decided to drop their recently flawed traffic light system used to release their drivers from the pits (rather than the traditional lollipop) Honda team principal Ross Brawn introuduced his own variation of the system Thursday during Honda’s pitstop practice at Fuji.
The system pictured to the right is similar to the one Ferrari has been using this season, where the system was manually triggered by the mechanics, the Honda system would be trigged automatically once and only when the fuel hose was removed. (to prevent incidents that occured to the Ferrari’s at Valencia and Singapore)
Honda will unlikely replace the existing lollipop system to the traffic light system this season, but they plan to test it more during the off season and may possibly introduce it for 2009.
